Hurricane Igor devastates Newfoundland

Hurricane Igor  pelted Canada's Atlantic coast province of Newfoundland with heavy rain Tuesday, flooding communities, washing out roads and stranding some residents in their homes
 On Sept. 21 the  hurricane dropped as much as 238 millimetres of rain in a day and had winds peaking at 172 km/h. 


The Canadian Forces were called to action on Friday, to provide emergency aid to thousands of people who need food, medicine, water, fuel and other supplies

Normally the cool weather from the Atlantic weaken the hurricanes altought because of the extreme climate change and warming water the hurricane gain power enough to damage Newfoundland.


"We have never experienced anything like this before. The important thing is not to panic and start helping out our neighbors and vice versa.It is going to take a long time to get on track but we will make it trough " Milena said who is from one of the most damage areas.


  "It caused tens of millions of dollars in damages and  it's the hardest that have hit in recent memory.  14 communities have declared a state of emergency and said 27 communities are isolated as a result of washouts and road damages".Mr.T. Keenan a member of the province's fire and emergency service said.  

Acid Rain : Pollution and Politics

why : Because the United States was still hesitant to curb its share of industrial pollutants

The mix of sulphur and rainwater forms sulphuric acid - a poison that makes ecosystems too acidic to support life.Altought they have found more contributing causes of acid rain, such as automobiles and other industries.Canada's lakes began deteriorating around 1950.

The lead was effective because the article first introduce what countries where involve and how, gave a brief description of what acid rain was.
The first information that was told was the most important because it caught the readers attention meanwhile told us what teh article was about, "When fish started turning belly up in lakes and streams, North America's eyes were suddenly opened to the consequences of pollution."

I find the story didnt t have a good ending because it didnt say what decision countries took about being involve in the problem and how

Asian "unicorn" found in Laos

 

The What and When - One of the rarest and most reserved  animals in the planet  was captured in  Laos last month.

The Why - The villagers who thinks this animal is sacred brought it to their village, where it died several days later.

The Who - The Saloa looks like and antilope altought is related to the wild cattle. Even thought people call it the "Asian unicorn"  it has two long slender horns and white facial markings. Its a extremly rare animal that noone had sight in the last decade It was only discovered by scientists in 1992 in Vietnam's Vu Quang Nature Reserve.

The species is considered critically endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), which estimates that no more than a few hundred survive.There is none in the zoos anywhere in the world.

-The lead of this article is effective since i tells what happened and then give a brief explanation about the animal that barely any people know of its existance.

-The most interesting/important information that was told first. Wich is that one of the most rare and secretive animals in the world was captured.

- The story has a good ending since it tells that we have little knowledge about this animals and how to treat them, therefore Laotian authorities are urging villagers in the area not to capture the animals meanwhile.
